Lakes dance team attends camp at Carthage College

The Lakes Community High School Dance Team from Lake Villa recently returned from Star Performance Company Dance Camp at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. They spent three morning-to-night, schedule-packed days working as a team with instructors in jazz, hip-hop, kick, pom and contemporary genres.

The team won the honor of first-place home routine with their performance to Maroon 5's "Lucky Strike," and opened the Sunday Awards Show with an encore performance. The Lakes Dance Team went on to further be awarded the top Superior ranking, as well as the special "Super Swag" award.

Individual achievements were earned by Riley Finnegan and Cami Bowen as runners-up in the leaps and turns competition. Additionally, Olivia Antony, Cami Bowen, Riley Finnegan, Sammie Heft, Josephine Horvath, Ryleigh Jones, Mya Pfeifer and Grace Webster were all selected as All American dancers and invited to dance at the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl Jan. 1, 2018.

Cami Bowen took the top prize as all-around camp Star Performer, with Olivia Antony as third runner-up.

All in all, the Lakes Dance Team worked hard and had a successful dance camp. Coaches Tiffany Chilcote, Ally Holbach and Cassie Peters are proud of the girls' hard work and accomplishments and expect more great things to come from this team during the upcoming dance season.
