Mundelein Community Days has four days of food, music and fireworks

Mundelein Community Days will take place Friday, June 30, to Tuesday, July 3. Most events will be held in Kracklauer Park, 116 N. Lake St., Mundelein. The festival will feature food, children's activities, live performances, games and contests, rides and more each day.

The event will include a carnival sponsored by American Legion Post 867 from 5-11 p.m. Friday and 2-11 p.m. Saturday through Monday. Fire engine rides will be offered from 4-8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 4-7 p.m. Monday.

The "Mundelein Munch" will offer food from several vendors from noon to 11 p.m. each day of the festival in the Santa Maria Meadow. Vendors scheduled to appear include Angel's Concession & Catering, Bill's Pizza & Pub, Brothers BBQ, Dairy Queen, El Barrio Restaurant, El CampeĆ³n, Jammin Concessions, Lee Concessions, Luke's of Mundelein, Rosati's Pizza & Sports Bar, Taco & Burrito Express, Tamales Diana and Wa-Pa-Ghetti's Pizza.

Friday's scheduled events begin with a performance by the Park District Dancers at noon and include "Music Under the Tent" with Anderlik & Church and Kev & Co. from 1-4:30 p.m., and performances by Classical Blast at 5 p.m. and Second Hand Soul from 8-11 p.m.

Saturday kicks off with the Mundelein Park District's Freedom Classic 5K Run/Walk and Half-mile Youth Run at 8 a.m. The day includes a pet parade and pet tricks, pony rides, a petting zoo, and more, ending with a performance by Lava Rock from 8-11 p.m.

A car show will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the village's 30th annual Patriotic Celebration at 9:45 a.m. at the Ft. Hill Heritage Museum, 601 E. Noel Drive.

Sunday will start with a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Mundelein Fire Association from 7-11:3p a.m. and feature crafts activities, a juggler/stiltwalker, and performances, concluding with HiFi Superstar from 8-11 p.m.

The Community Days parade will be at 2 p.m. Sunday with a new route this year. The parade will line up in the Mundelein Metra Station parking lot and head west on Division Street to California Avenue, north to Hawley Street, then west to Mundelein High School, 1350 W. Hawley St., Mundelein. For more information, call (847) 949-3223.

Monday's activities start with Chalk Art in the parking lot from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day features face painting, a hot dog eating contest, a taekwondo demonstration courtesy of Keumgang MAA, and the final performance of the festival from Mason Rivers from 8-11 p.m.

A fireworks show will be at 9:30 p.m. Monday. Prime viewing areas for the Mundelein fireworks are the Metra Train Station parking lot, Village Hall Plaza, across from Fairhaven School, and of the Munch grounds.
