College of DuPage Board of Trustees Approves FY 2018 Budget with Tuition and Tax Levy Flat for Third Year

The College of DuPage Board of Trustees approved the Fiscal Year 2018 budget at its regular meeting on Thursday, June 22, following a scheduled public hearing.

For the third consecutive year, the Board-approved budget is based on the premise that the tuition rate and operating tax levy will be kept flat. At its March 16 regular meeting, the Board of Trustees voted to keep tuition flat for the fall 2017 and spring and summer 2018 terms. Tuition and fees will remain at $135 per credit hour for in-district residents.

"The Board takes its oversight of the fiduciary responsibilities of the College very seriously," said Board Chairman Deanne Mazzochi. "This budget takes into account the needs of our students and our taxpayers, while maintaining the high-quality education and services this institution has provided for 50 years. Our budget committee, led by Board Vice Chair Frank Napolitano, did an excellent job in crafting the document we are approving tonight."

The Operating Funds budgeted revenues for FY 2018 are $165.3 million compared to $173.3 million in FY 2017. The Operating Funds budgeted expenditures for FY 2018 are $170.7 million compared to $172.9 million in FY 2017. The budget and additional financial documents can be viewed by clicking here.

"The Budget Committee worked carefully with the Administrative Affairs Department to create, what I believe, is a solid spending plan for the next year," said Board Vice Chair Napolitano. "As we've done previously, this year's budget was built taking into account cost to our students, state funding and the needs of the College. Because state allocations remain uncertain, we anticipate receiving only $6.6 million from the state for Fiscal Year 2018, which is in line with what we received in FY17."
