Celebrate 'Red, White & Boom' in Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire's annual Red, White & Boom celebration is planned for Monday and Tuesday, July 3 and 4, at Spring Lake Park, 49 Oxford Drive, Lincolnshire.

The ticket booth will be open from 4-9:30 p.m. Monday and noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Festivities include rides and attractions like the Trackless Train and Monster Climbing Wall; a food court and beer tent; performances by the Lincolnshire Bolts and Personalities Inc. on Monday and Dixie Crush on Tuesday; a parade; a Cardboard Boat Regatta; and more, all culminating in a fireworks display at dusk Tuesday.

Lincolnshire's 36th annual Fourth of July 5K will take place at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The race is chip timed and USATIF sanctioned and certified. Online registration is $25 for ages 13 and older, $15 for ages 12 and younger, plus an online service charge, and is available at register.chronotrack.com/r/30986.

On-site registration can be done from 5-8 p.m. Monday or 6:30-8 a.m. Tuesday and is $30/$20. For more information about the 5K, email scott@lincolnshiresports.org.

The parade will step off at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Laura B. Sprague School, 2425 Riverwoods Road, Lincolnshire, and head east on Kings Cross Drive to Brunswick Lane, south to Dukes Lane, west to Berkshire Lane, north to Portshire Drive, west and then north to Buckingham Place, west to Riverwoods Road, north to Yorkshire Drive, west to Oxford Drive, then follow Oxford south as it curves around to head north and finish at Spring Lake Park.

The parade includes 600 expected participants, 10 floats and 15 trucks.

The Cardboard Boat Regatta will start at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday. Teams will take to the lake in boats made of corrugated cardboard, with prizes for fastest boat and most creative design.
