NAPERVILLE WELCOMES UCP SEGUIN PARTICIPANTS WITH OPEN ARMS

UCP Seguin of Greater Chicago's newest Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) in Naperville is a place to call home for four young women with developmental disabilities from DuPage County. This Naperville group home is one of 75 such homes run by UCP Seguin in 29 communities around the Greater Chicago area. On June 21st UCP Seguin conducted an open house for families, friends, neighbors, and community leaders to celebrate the inclusion of these women into the Naperville community.

The residents also participate in weekday activities through UCP Seguin CLIMB in nearby Villa Park, engaging in community activities such as work, volunteer, social, recreational, educational and other productive, meaningful opportunities.

"Choosing Naperville for a CILA home was an easy decision," says John Voit, UCP Seguin's President and CEO. "These young women grew up DuPage County and the City of Naperville is among the most welcoming to people with disabilities of any community in Illinois." According to the study Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice 2007, "Naperville's less restrictive zoning affirmatively advances fair housing choice for people with disabilities."

The residents are happy are happy to call Naperville home too. At the open house they proudly showed off their bedrooms and living spaces to those in attendance, including Naperville Mayor Steve Chirico. "On behalf of everyone in our community, I am especially pleased to welcome these young women into their beautiful new home," states Chirico. "They have as much to contribute to the life of Naperville as this city has to give to them."

UCP Seguin of Greater Chicago believes that all people, regardless of ability, deserve to achieve their potential, advance their independence and act as full members of the community. So we stop at nothing to provide life skills training, assistive technology, meaningful employment and a place to call home for people with disabilities, as well as specialized foster care for children. Our goal: life without limits for people with disabilities.
