Schaumburg Dance Ensemble Announces Nutcracker Auditions

Schaumburg Dance Ensemble is holding auditions for its 2018 production of The Nutcracker. The run will include twelve performances featuring over 100 dancers. Child and adult roles are available. General auditions and performances will be held at the Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts. Staging and choreography by Michele Leslie Holzman, Lisa Sheppard, and Alberto Arias.

Auditions will be held on the following dates:

Saturday, August 18

• 9 a.m.-11:15 a.m. Ages 8-10.

Minimum 1 year classical ballet training

(8 years old by 10/1/18)

• 11:30 a.m.-1:45 p.m. Ages 11-13

Minimum 2 years classical ballet training

• 2 p.m.-2:45 p.m. Boys 7-13

No dance training necessary (7 years old by 5/1/18)

Saturday, August 25

• 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Ages 13 - Adult

Intermediate/Advanced

Please bring pointe, character, jazz, and ballet shoes

Sunday, August 26

• 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Callbacks by invitation

North Suburban Auditions

Auditions and rehearsals for select scenes in The Nutcracker will also be held at the Dance Academy of Libertyville. Although a majority of the production will be rehearsed in Schaumburg, rehearsals for the select scenes will be held primarily on Sunday afternoons at the Dance Academy in Libertyville.

• 6:45 p.m.- 8 p.m. Ages 11-13

Minimum 2 years classical ballet training

*School performances not open to the public.

Pre-registration is recommended. Online registration is available online at www.prairiecenter.org under Youth Programs. Dancers must register ½ hour before auditions and bring a photo to the audition. A parent or guardian must attend a meeting at the start of the audition. All scheduled rehearsals will be absolutely mandatory. Cast member participation fee (for those selected) is $125 for performers cast in a single role, $175 for performers cast in multiple roles.
