Ansel Brainerd Cook Chapter gives out citizenship awards

The Ansel Brainerd Cook Chapter of the NSDAR in Libertyville presented annual DAR Youth Citizenship Awards to local graduating eighth-grade students.

The DAR Youth Citizenship Awards are presented to selected boys and girls who meet the necessary five qualities of honor, service, courage, leadership, and patriotism.

The award winners are chosen by the school faculty and receive their certificates and pins during the end of year award ceremonies.

The 2017 DAR Youth Citizenship Award winners were:

• Carl Sandburg Middle School: Evan Meister and Claudia Wilcox

• Frassati Catholic Academy: Timmy McInerney and Mary McMurray

• Fremont Middle School: Trey Baker, Ryan Ortega, Lauren Carlson and Natali Freihammer.

• Highland Middle School: Spencer Ford and Clara Beauchamp

• Hawthorn Middle School North: Cameron Pugliese and Lily Candocia

• Hawthorn Middle School South: Thomas Rose and Gillian Johnson

• Oak Grove School: Pavan Acharya and Avery Vang

• St. Joseph School: Reed Chudy and Hailie Swaitkowski

• West Oak Middle School: Dustin Bhin Ock and Kamryn Belle Laureys
