Wauconda Fest offers rides, music, water fights

The Wauconda Park District will host Wauconda Fest 2017 Thursday through Sunday, June 22-25 at Cook Park, 600 N. Main St., Wauconda.

Admission is $3 for a Fest Button good for all four days.

The event will feature carnival rides, kickball and bags tournaments, a craft show, water fights, a car show, food and refreshments including a beer and wine tent, live entertainment and more. Featured performers include Hello Weekend on Thursday; Modern Day Romeos on Friday; Mike & Joe and Arra on Saturday; and Kevin Purcell and the Nightburners on Sunday.

Festival hours are 5-10 p.m. Thursday, 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, noon to midnight Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. Ride specials will be available each day, with $1 tickets (two-three tickets per ride) Thursday, 22 tickets for $20 Friday, and $22 for unlimited rides from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Business Team Water Fights will be held Saturday, starting at 2:30 p.m., in the Wauconda Park District main parking lot. Teams of five will compete, with cash prizes awarded for the top four teams. The fourth annual Arts & Crafts Show will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The outdoor show is open to crafts and vendors of all types. Sunday will also feature a car show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with registration and setup from 8-11 a.m. Trophies will be presented for the top three places in several different classes.
