Dundee Lions give donation to Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association

The Dundee Township Lions Club recently presented a check to the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association.

NISRA is a year-round life skills program, using community-based recreation activities to enhance the quality of life for young adults, ages 22-35, with a mild to moderate cognitive disability. The organization serves communities in McHenry County and parts of Cook, Lake and Kane counties.

Lion Krueger notes the Lions are proud to enrich the lives of so many young adults. They need to know that people care about them and the Lions are glad they can be a part of this.

This past month, the Lions have been making a variety of donations to a number of community service organizations as well a $1,000 scholarship to a high school student in honor of Phylis Lange Connelly, a longtime Lion Club member and respected choir leader and musician in the Fox Valley community.

The Dundee Township Lions meet regularly in the evening at the Village Squire, 125 Washington St. in West Dundee. Individuals wanting to find out more about the Lions are invited to attend a meeting. Call Jim McClung, club president, at (847) 567-7127 for a reservation.
