Joshua and The Higher Calling to perform at St. John UCC

On Saturday, July 8, come to St. John's United Church of Christ, Harmony at 3 p.m. to hear Joshua and The Higher Calling, a group from Bensenville.

The concept of "Joshua and The Higher Calling" is to entertain people with the joy of Jesus. This group performs songs of Chris Tomlin, Matt Redman, Jeremy Camp, Matt Maher and others.

This band features a lead singer, master storyteller humorist, three backup singers, violin, guitar, piano and bass player.

Many know the story and song, "Joshua fought the Battle of Jericho." This group is about not only knocking down the walls that are holding you down but creating bridges by performing joyful and uplifting music that applies to all Christian congregations.

The group starts the program with Christian rock concert style and they break up the show with a cappella singing where four voices sign without the band showing the gospel music from which popular Christian music grew. The program ends with a hybrid Christian rock concert/dance section. In each of the sections, there is humor and stories as Joshua and the Higher Calling not only performs but gets to know the audience.

There will be ice cream and popcorn. There will be a freewill offering. Weather permitting, the concert will be held in the pavilion under the oak trees at the St. John's UCC, 11821 E. Grant Hwy. (Route 20), Hampshire. It is located just north of the I-90 Hampshire Marengo exit and at Huntley Road and Route 20. For information, visit stjohnsuccharmony.org or call the church at (815) 923-4263.
