Hampshire club to hold luncheon June 20

This month, the Hampshire-Henpeck Unit of Home and Community Education will host a luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, at Porter's Pub, 1250 Bowes Creek Road, Elgin. Cultural Enrichment Director Jan Ihssen will contact members before the luncheon to coordinate final details and make reservations.

The HCE's 99th annual meeting at the Mill Creek Golf Club was a great success with great food and entertainment. Hampshire-Henpeck members were presented with awards in the following categories: Outstanding Achievement for Public Relations, Excellent Achievement for Cultural Enrichment, Excellent Participation for Lessons for Living and Certificate of Recognition for Volunteer Hours.

The May meeting started at the Hampshire-Burlington Food Pantry with an informative tour conducted by club member Barbara Burst and food donations contributed by members. The meeting immediately followed at the Heartland Bank. Library books were presented to Ella Johnson Memorial Library representative, Scott Grotto, in remembrance of member Patricia Lehman who passed away in late December. They also had a Marilyn Dorsey remembrance with a donation to the Highland Avenue Church of the Brethren. Excellent refreshments were provided by Peggy Gross and Barbara Mursu.

Hampshire-Henpeck HCE is a member of the Kane County Association for Home and Community Education. Its mission is to enhance the lives of individuals and families through quality, educational programs and experiences, encouraging responsible leadership and service to the community.
