Streamwood, Illinois: After excelling in the fields of civil and environmental engineering for about two decades, Khaja Moinuddin started displaying his talent in public service also. In a short period of eight years, Khaja expanded his political biography from a zoning board member of the Village of Streamwood (2009) to the prestigious position of Trustee of Hanover Township for which he got elected in April 2017.

"I want to give back to the community that gave me more than I hoped for," said Khaja who holds a senior engineer position at Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.

For his interest in and inspiration for community service, Khaja gives credits to MLA - Minority Leadership Alliance, a grassroots organization that motivates new immigrants for political activism. Khaja is also vice president of MLA. In 2017 municipal elections, MLA recruited and supported about two dozen candidates.

Congratulating Khaja on his meteoric success, Moon Khan, President of MLA and Khaja's mentor, said, "Khaja holds an amazing combination of engineering and social minds. We should feel pride in supporting and promoting this kind of indigenous leader."

Before coming to Hanover Township, Khaja also served as Trustee of Poplar Creek Library District Trustee from 2015 to 2017. There, he also served as chairman of the library's Policy Committee.
