Buffalo Grove wins Harper's Financial Accounting Contest

Buffalo Grove High School's financial accounting team captured first place in the 32nd annual Harper Area Accounting Contest at Harper College.

Buffalo Grove has won 21 championships in the 32 years the contest has been held. Open to all high schools within the Harper attendance area, the Harper Accounting Contest is a 75-question test. Ranking is based on the number of questions answered correctly. The total of the highest five scores per school determines the winners.

Buffalo Grove's team, coached by accounting teacher Tom Mroz, includes seniors Danielle Allaire, first place overall; John Churchill, Matthew Gontko, Lindsey Hammel, Gregory Harner, Matthew Hooghkirk, Brian Marienau, Jordan McDonald, second place overall.

Seniors Bogdan Sheremeta, Robert Weede and Kyle Zyck all placed in the contest. Junior team members who won awards were Timothy Constertina, third place overall, and Cody Kipley.
