Retiring Prospect educator receives prestigious state honor
Prospect High School teacher Lisa Curtin recently received the 2017 Illinois FCCLA Honorary Membership Award.
FCCLA, or the Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America, is a nonprofit national career and technical student organization for students studying family and consumer sciences education.
Curtin was chosen to receive the award by the Illinois FCCLA board of directors and State Executive Council because she has been instrumental in organizing the FCCLA Fall Leadership Meetings over the years and she has put in countless hours making FCCLA a positive experience for so many students across the state.
Curtin is in her 35th and final year as a career and family/consumer sciences educator and serves as the FCCLA sponsor at Prospect.
This state-level award was created in 1946 to recognize persons who have made outstanding contributions and provided continuing service to the state FCCLA organization.
Since 1946, only a select group of individuals have been given this honor.
