Theatre Nebula to stage office farce 'Cubicle'

Award-winning local professional company Theatre Nebula is performing the world premiere of Kevin Wiczer's office farce "Cubicle."

The limited engagement opened last weekend and the play runs through June 11. Friday and Saturday performances begin at 8 p.m. and Sunday performances at 3 p.m. at Cutting Hall Performing Arts Center, 150 E. Wood St., Palatine.

There will be a talkback with the playwright and cast after the show Saturday, June 3, and Saturday, June 10.

After the president of a failing shoe company, Sole, kicks the bucket, his pompous son takes the reins and attempts to revive the business by bringing in a couple of investors from Chicago. If these investors aren't impressed by what they see, they'll be taking their capital elsewhere.

Luckily, a new hire with no real experience has an idea that might just save them all. But it's not that simple. Throw in paranoia, deceit, blooming romances, mistaken identities, kidnapping and death, and you have a runaway train that has no chance of slowing down. They'll need all the luck they can get.

Wiczer wrote and directed Theatre Nebula's previous world premiere production, "A Man With No Opinion." "Cubicle," which he also is directing, proves to be just as entertaining.

"This quick-paced, laugh-attack show is stock full of quirky office colleagues we all recognize," said Artistic Director and "Cubicle" designer J. Spencer Greene.

"Everyone who has worked in an office knows someone with eccentricities, which make us laugh. This comedy takes it up several notches."

The cast includes: Jenny Calzaretta, Sean Colbert, Kyle Downs, Deric Anthony Gochenauer, Cale Haupert, Jen Houghton, Sara Inendino, Jessica Means, Don J. Orlando, Tim Stompanato, and Kimberly Wiczer-Haupert.

Theatre Nebula is celebrating the conclusion of its 18th season providing innovative, professional theater to the local community.
