Kick off Ceremony of 3rd International Yoga Day

Chicago IL: The third International Day of Yoga will be celebrated by the Consulate General of India in collaboration with the City of Naperville on Saturday 24th June, 2017 at Naperville Yard, 1603 Legacy Circle, Naperville, IL 60563. In this connection, the kick off ceremony of 3rd International of Day of Yoga was celebrated on 17th May, 2017 in the Consulate premises. The ceremony was attended by different community organizations, established yoga and spiritual centers, Business community and members of the Media. Shri O. P. Meena, Consul, welcomed the guests.

During kick off ceremony, Mrs. Neeta Bhushan, Consul General, addressed the gathering & shared information with participants on celebration of 3rd International Day of Yoga. Emphasizing the importance of the Yoga Day, Consul General termed it as the pet-project of Prime Minister Modi, and of Ambassador Navtej Sarna as well. Consul General shared the following important details of the Third International Day of Yoga Day celebration :

Day and Date: Saturday, June 24th, 2017

Venue: Naperville Yard, 1603 Legacy Circle, Naperville, IL 60563

Timings: The official programme will be 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM followed by the Community fest.

Events: This year's Yoga Day activities extend over several days; and all across Chicagoland. On June 24th an array of activities will follow the official programme from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by community fest and cultural activities till 05:00 PM. In the run up to the celebrations, various temples, community organizations, and Yoga Centers will be organizing the stand-alone activities which includes 2nd Kick off ceremony at Sri Venkateswara Swami Balaji Temple on 4th June, 3rd Kick off ceremony at Sant Nirankari Mission on 11th June followed by 4th Kick off ceremony in Oak Brook. In addition, many satellite events have been arranged all across.

Participating Organisations : Participating organisations includes the Art of living Foundation, Isha Foundation, Brahma Kumaris Meditation Centers, SEWA International, Science of Spirituality, Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh, Sahaj Yoga Meditation, Sri Venkateshwara Swami Balaji Temple and American Association of Retired Asians (AARA) etc.

The Community organizations in Chicagoland have come forward to support the event which includes both Federation of Indian Associations, Naperville Indian Community outreach, Sant Nirankari Mission, Gujrati Samaj of Chicago, Gandhi Samaj of Chicago, iHope SEWA, Metropolitan Asian Family Services, Bhartiya Seniors of Chicago, Punjabi American Organization, Chicago Andhra Association, Chicago Indo-US Lions Club, GOPIO Chicago Chapter, Association of Rajasthanis in America Association, Eye on India, BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, World Hindu Council etc.

Media Partner : Desi Junction, India Post , Hi India, Desitalk, Asian Media USA, TV Asia USA, Swades Media USA, Radio Panipoori, Hello NRI will be Media Partner for celebration of 3rd International Day of Yoga.

Sponsors: Air India, State Bank of India, SR International, Sahil, National Bankcard, Adbhut Entertainment will sponsor the Event.

Consul General made a vehement appeal to the community to come and join. In order to make the event a mega success, Consul General threw open all gates inviting people to participate. The euphoric attendees also reciprocated with an equal zeal.

The Consulate is expecting the participation of several local dignitaries and elected officials in the inaugural ceremony of the International Yoga Day. The City of Naperville has declared its support to the celebrations and would be issuing a special proclamation declaring the Day by the city as International Yoga Day.

The Consul General concluded the Meeting and urged all the Community organizations and Media partners to extend whole-hearted support in celebrating the third International Day of Yoga in a befitting manner.
