Annual Fox Trot benefits local charities for women, children

The Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation hosted the 17th annual Fox Trot 5K and 10K race April 29 at the Batavia Riverwalk.

More than 250 runners and walkers participated in the 5K and 10K races consisting of children and adults alike. In addition, almost 100 children participated in two kids' runs: the Junior Jog, a noncompetitive race for children in preschool through first grade, and the Youth Run, for second- through fifth-graders. Prior to race time, the HC Storm Elementary School Choir sang the national anthem and members of the JB Nelson Jaguars running club led stretches and warm-ups. Batavia Academy of Dance was also on hand to perform and cheer the runners on.

The foundation thanks all of the donors, volunteers, and sponsors, especially Apollo Investment and WOW 1 Day Painting, without whom these events could not take place. They also would like to thank all of the dedicated runners and walkers, many of whom return year after year! The money raised from this event, as well as all of its events, are disbursed in May to local charities and educational organizations serving women, children, and families. The Batavia Mothers' Club Foundation members put on a spectacular event and hope that you will join them for Fox Trot next year.

The foundation is a nonprofit organization, founded in 1934, dedicated to improving the quality of life for children in the Fox Valley area. Last year, the club donated more than $48,000 to local charities, including the Batavia Clothes Closet and the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry, whose activities support this mission. It is open to all mothers in the area who are interested in local philanthropic, service and community activities.
