Bensenville Park District Offers a Down on the Farm, Flexible Camp Program

Kids can take a journey back in time and make discoveries to see what the past was like at the newest camp that was added to the Bensenville Park District's summer camp roster. The District is offering its 2nd annual, two-week Discover Camp at Fischer Farm for kids between 6 and 10. Discovery Camp is scheduled for July 10-21, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.

The Camp Program will help kids to be appreciative of their natural surroundings and will also have hands-on experiences of what it was like to grow up on a farm. Fischer Farm, one of the oldest remaining homesteads in DuPage County, is where kids will be able play games, enjoy themed activities, and go on hikes to view native plants and learn about animals this summer. The campers will also go on field trips to Volkening Heritage Farm in Schaumburg and to the Churchville Schoolhouse in Bensenville. Knowing the summer heat will undoubtedly tag along, all of the Bensenville Park District camp kids enjoy swimming at the Bensenville Water Park and Splash Pad.

Other summer-long camps for ages 6 to 10-year olds include themed camps, Adventure and Sports Camps. Both camps offer an opportunity for children to make new friends, try new things, and have fun while being supervised in a safe and enriching environment. Adventure Camp offers a little of everything; campers will create cool crafts, play games, go on field trips, enjoy afternoon pool time and visit the library. Sports Camp helps kids improve skills and develop good sportsmanship ethics in a variety of sports; kids of all skill levels are welcome.

Do you have a teen that wants to stay busy this summer? There's also a Teen Leadership Camp for 11 to 15-year-olds. Swimming, field trips, games and crafts, along with an opportunity to lead the younger camps, are all included.

Summer-long camps are available June 12 through August 18 and can be reserved per day, per week or per session. For parent(s) who have a demanding work schedule, the program offers the convenience of before and after extended child care in addition to a free health lunch courtesy of the Illinois Food Bank. Campers meet at the Park District's Deer Grove Leisure Center, 1000 W. Wood Street in Bensenville.
