New U-46 board member to speak to Elgin Kiwanis

The Kiwanis Club of Elgin hosts weekly meetings featuring a variety of topics.

On May 23, Melissa Owens, newly elected member of the board of Elgin Area School District U-46, will articulate her vision for the district and its students. The Kiwanis Club of Elgin, now in its 97th year, received its charter March 9, 1920, and serves the Kiwanis International mission, to change the world one child at a time, one community at a time.

In that time, the Elgin noon club donated more than $1 million to organizations in Elgin and South Elgin.

Anyone interested in joining the club is invited to attend a weekly lunch meeting at noon Tuesdays at the Grumpy Goat Tavern, 875 Sports Way, Elgin, at the Highlands golf course. For more information, contact Karen Maki at (847) 695-7589.
