Honey Queen to visit Batavia library Monday

Maia Jaycox, the 2017 American Honey Queen, will visit the Batavia Public Library at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 22, to talk to families, especially children, about honey bees and their important role in nature.

Jaycox is touring the country as a representative of the American Beekeeping Federation, and her visit to Batavia is sponsored by the Fox Valley Beekeepers Association.

The presentation includes a photo op with the Honey Queen, an optional honey tasting, a question-and-answer session, and bee-related activities for the kids.

Children also can view and touch some of the tools beekeepers use.

Registration is not required. Doors to the Founders Room open at 4:15 p.m.

For more information call the library's Youth Services department, (630) 879-1393, ext. 500.
