Give gift of life at Algonquin library blood drive

The Algonquin Area Public Library District will host an emergency blood drive from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the Harnish Main Library, 2600 Harnish Drive, west of Randall Road. Heartland Blood Centers' Mobile Coach will be parked in the library's parking lot.

"Heartland let us know that the current inventory levels of blood supply are dangerously low, and they reached out to the library to host a blood drive," said Stephen Bero, the library's executive director. "We were glad to help!"

The library hosts semiannual blood drives in support of patients in its community and beyond.

Heartland is the sole provider to 65 hospitals in the Chicagoland area, including all area Veterans Affairs hospitals.
