Four teens advance to Eagle Scout rank at May 21 ceremony

On Sunday, May 21, Boy Scouts Troop 46 of the Fox Valley District, Lily Lake, will host a Court of Honor for Matthew MacArthur, John Potesta, Arion Seiff and Collin Srocki, who are advancing to the rank of Eagle Scout. The Court of Honor will begin with a ceremony at 3 p.m. followed by dinner at St. Patrick Parish, 6N491 Crane Road, St. Charles.

Since the beginning of Boy Scouts of America in 1910, more than two million Scouts have achieved the highest rank attainable. Only four percent of Scouts achieve this rank after earning 21 merit badges and demonstrating an adherence to the Scout Spirit (ideal attitudes based on loyalty to the Scouts Oath/Law), and exhibiting virtuous leadership. The Scout also organizes and leads an extensive service project.

These St. Charles North students joined Cub Scouts Pack 251 from Corron Elementary School or Pack 165 from Ferson Creek Elementary School in 2006 as Tiger Scouts. They joined Boy Scout Troop 46 in February 2010.

• John Potesta achieved his Eagle Scout rank in October 2016. He earned 28 merit badges and received two special recognitions: Order of the Arrow (2013) and Bronze Palm (Jan. 5, 2017). He will attend University of North Dakota in the fall, to seek a bachelor's degree in commercial aviation.

• Arion Seiff achieved his Eagle Scout rank in December 2016. He earned 30 merit badges and received the special recognition of Order of the Arrow (May 2014). He will attend University of Nebraska-Lincoln this fall where he will seek a bachelor's degree in business.

• Matthew MacArthur achieved his Eagle Scout Rank in February 2017. He earned 30 merit badges and received the special recognition of Order of the Arrow (May 2014). He will attend Augustana College in Rock Island to obtain a bachelor's degree in biology so he can pursue his dream of becoming a pediatrician.

• Collin Srocki achieved his Eagle Scout rank in April 2016. He earned 27 merit badges and received the special recognition of Order of the Arrow (2013). He will attend Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where he plans on majoring in athletic training/physical therapy with hopes of earning a master's degree.
