Free Car Seat Safety Event

The Illinois Child Passenger Protection Act requires that all children under the age of 8 be properly secured in an appropriate child safety restraint system. Unfortunately, all too often, we hear of children who are riding in the wrong car seats or are completely unrestrained.

As a public service, the West Chicago Police Department will conduct a free car seat safety event on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Certified child passenger safety technicians will be on hand at the West Chicago Fire Station, located at 200 Fremont Street to check car seats for proper installation, install new car seats, and educate parents and caregivers on how to choose the correct car seat and install them properly in their vehicles.

The event is free and no registration is required.
