Anderson Animal Shelter's 11th annual Dogleg Open Golf Outing will be held Friday, June 9, at the Highlands Golf Course in Elgin.

The shelter is encouraging those who love golf or those who just want to make a difference, to participate in the outing; pre-event registration is required.

All skills are welcome at this scramble golf event which starts at 11:30 a.m. It will feature a number of fun contests throughout the course. After golf, participants will enjoy dinner, raffle and live auction.

Registration will be 10 to 11 a.m. The cocktails and cash bar will be 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., with dinner, awards, raffles and auction from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $150 which includes cart rental, range balls, lunch and dinner; $600 for a foursome. For dinner only, it is $35.

Events such as the golf outing raise significant funds to help support the care for the animals that come to Anderson. Last year, more than 3,000 animals found a new home. Serving animals and the community is made possible by the individuals and businesses that support the South Elgin shelter through events such as the golf outing.
