Zengeler Cleaners Awards Cap Year of Outstanding Commitment to the Community

Northbrook, IL, May 11, 2017: The dust has settled on the 2017 Glass Slipper Project (GSP) collection drive and the results for this year are truly amazing. With the support of its high school partners and customers, Zengeler Cleaners collected 6,107 new and lovingly used dresses in support of GSP - a new record in the company's 15th year supporting the project. The collection of dresses, purses, jewelry, shoes and other accessories, which have a combined value exceeding $4.1 Million, caps an outstanding year of community involvement for the family-owned company.

Over the past twelve months, Zengeler Cleaners has supported many local organizations, including youth sponsorships, programs for adults and seniors, community-based organizations and other worthy causes. In addition to the Glass Slipper Project, Zengeler Cleaners is well known for its partnership with the Libertyville Rotary Sunrise in support of the annual Coats for Vets drive. This is in large part because the company is far more than a "drop off point" for donations; they actually inspect, repair, clean and then deliver the donated items, all as a no-cost labor of love for the 160-year old company.

Two of northern Illinois' largest Chambers of Commerce recently recognized Zengeler Cleaners for their contributions to the community. On February 17, 2017, the GLMV Chamber of Commerce presented their "Community Service - Business" award, which honors the chamber business that stands above and beyond its peers in service to the community. On March 13, 2017, the Northbrook Chamber of Commerce presented its "Corporate Citizen of the Year" award at the organization's Business Awards banquet, recognizing Zengeler Cleaners for promoting a spirit of giving and community involvement.

"Zengeler Cleaners is privileged to be able to support so many worthy activities in the communities we serve," said Tom Zengeler, President of Zengeler Cleaners. "Our service philosophy was first established by our founder, John Zengeler, way back in the 1850s and has carried through to every generation of leadership. We're both humbled and honored to receive the awards from the Northbrook and GLMV Chambers of Commerce. Further, we're committed to continuing our legacy of service for years to come."
