Ducklings rescued from storm drain in West Chicago

A special rescue on Monday, May 8, 2017 left everyone involved feeling victorious. Following multiple calls from residents and passers-by about a family of baby ducks that fell into a storm drain, the West Chicago Police Department responded to the rear of a vacant business at the intersection of routes 59 and 64. The West Chicago Fire Protection District also responded to assist.

Upon arrival, officers found the ducklings and requested assistance from staff of the West Chicago Public Works Department to help them gain access to the storm drain.

Happily, all the ducklings were rescued and reunited with their mother, who was anxiously awaiting their return nearby.

A big thank you to all who were involved in the duckling rescue.
