Maxwell Street Klezmer Band Concert
Highland Park, IL, June 4, 2017- Immerse yourself in a musical landscape that will transport you from Eastern Europe to the Jazz Age, a unique evening of entertainment and education rolled into one. On June 4, 2017, at 7:00 PM, at Bella Via Ristorante in Highland Park, Lori Lippitz and the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band will present a rollicking concert and an insightful history of the journey of klezmer music from Eastern Europe to America.
Benefitting Kol Hadash Humanistic Congregation, this family-friendly concert will delight audiences of all ages. From the ecstatic melodies of the Chassidim to the jazz era of Benny Goodman, Maxwell Street will show the origins of klezmer music and the influence it has had on American music and culture, then and now.
