Immanuel United Church of Christ welcomes new youth leader

Immanuel United Church of Christ, Bartlett, welcomed Haeman Hong as its seventh- through 12th-grade youth leader at the 9:30 a.m. worship service Sunday, April 30.

Haeman is pursuing a doctor of philosophy degree from Chicago Theological Seminary and is a Student-in-Discernment with the United Church of Christ, with ambitions to be ordained into Christian ministry.

Haeman has a rich background in youth ministry and a special interest in social justice. He looks forward to engaging youth in learning more about their faith, developing love for God and one another, and creating a sense of community.

Haeman received his bachelor of theology degree from Hanshin University in South Korea and continued his education in the United States, receiving his master of divinity degree from New York Theological Seminary and a master of sacred theology degree from Union Theological Seminary, New York.

Haeman and his wife, Sunghye, reside in Chicago.

Haeman met with the seventh- 12th-grade youth after worship on April 30, in the church library during coffee fellowship. On Sunday, May 7, he will be commissioned as Youth Leader during the 9:30 a.m. worship service, with a special coffee fellowship following the service.
