Woodland District 50 Honors Retiring Board Members, Welcomes Newly-Elected Members

Woodland District 50 school board members recognized retiring members, took their oaths of office and selected new officers this week during the reorganization meeting that follows the April school board election.

Appreciation was shown for the dedication of retiring board members: Tony DeMonte, Bill Barnabee and Vince Juarez, who each served four years on the board, and Renea Amen, who served from August 2016 to 2017.

Taking the oath of office as newly-elected board members were: Carla Little, Joyce Mason, Jennifer L. Haack, Joseph De Rosa, and Elizabeth Helgren. Helgren was elected to a two-year term and the three others were elected to four-year terms. Sitting board members Chris Schrantz and Terry Hall were also administered the oath of office.

Board members selected the following officers for two-year terms. They are:

President: Carla Little

Vice President: Joyce Mason

Secretary: Elizabeth Helgren

The board agreed to hold Governing Board meetings on the fourth Thursday of the month, beginning with July 27, 2017. They had consensus to begin the meetings at 6 p.m. with open sessions starting at 7 p.m.

Until July, the Governing Board meetings will follow the posted times of 6:30 p.m. on May 23 and June 27.
