Immanuel School to put on 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat'

Immanuel Lutheran School in Batavia presents an amateur production of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," with music by Andrew Lloyd Weber and lyrics by Tim Rice, at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, in Immanuel's Family Life Center, 950 Hart Road.

Students in kindergarten through eighth grade are proud to present this production under the direction of Bill McLane and Rebecca Bello, and sponsored by Immanuel's Parent-Teacher League. The production is currently in rehearsals.

In "Joseph," Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musicalize the familiar Bible story of a young man whose brothers are jealous of their father's favoritism toward him and the beautiful coat he receives as a gift. They sell him into slavery in Egypt, telling their father he has been murdered. But Joseph ultimately becomes important to the Pharaoh through his ability to interpret dreams.

Kindergarten through fifth-grade students comprise the chorus, while middle school students take on major roles and provide production assistance for technical director Amy Kennaugh and music director Jen McLane.

Collin Roin will portray Joseph, while Jocelyn Kennaugh and Chloe Nelson fill the roles of the Narrators. Jacob and Potiphar (Nathan Hatch and Charlie Nelson), Pharoah (Ethan Bello), and the Baker and the Butler (Colleen Sieman and Kayleigh McLane) round out the main characters. Additional cast members portray Jacob's other sons and their wives. Immanuel Lutheran fourth-grader Cayla Oldenburger created the image of the coat of many colors for Immanuel's marketing materials and the playbill.

The community is invited to enjoy a free, fun family evening of great music. Bring a friend and enjoy one of theater's most entertaining productions.
