Nominations due for Community Builder of the Year

The Geneva Masonic Lodge 139 is accepting nominations for the 2017 Community Builder of the Year through Wednesday, May 3.

The Community Builder of the Year award will be bestowed upon an individual who has made a significant and beneficial impact in the Geneva community. Masonic affiliation is not required of nominees. This annual honor, in its inaugural year, will be given to an individual whose work in the community and concern for those living here is shown by ongoing involvement in community service, charitable events and organizations. Candidates should be recognized by their peers as a community leader. The criteria and nominating forms may be found at www.genevamasoniclodge.org.

It will be presented at the annual awards dinner scheduled 6 p.m. for Friday, May 19, at the Q Center, 1405 N. Fifth St., St. Charles. Tickets are $40 and include a plated dinner, silent auction and cash bar. Tickets can be purchased at www.genevamasoniclodge.org.

Geneva Masonic Lodge 139, at 10 S. Second St. in Geneva, has been "Making Good Men Better" since 1852 - better brothers, husbands, fathers and citizens. Freemasonry is perhaps the oldest fraternity still active today. It was publicly organized in 1717 with the formation of the Grand Lodge of England and based upon traditions at least as old as the late 14th century. Freemasonry does not publicly solicit for membership.
