Mt. Prospect Park District Hires New Executive Director

Mt. Prospect Park District is pleased to announce the hiring of Dan Malartsik as its new Executive Director. Malartsik brings over 20 years of parks and recreation experience at various levels. Most recently, he served as the Director of Facilities and Technology for the Park District of Highland Park.

"It is a great honor to serve as Executive Director for the Mt. Prospect Park District. I look forward to building and maintaining relationships that enable a positive community impact through parks, facilities and programs that enhance the lives of our residents." Malartsik added he is passionate about the fundamental connection between the park district and the community.

The Mt. Prospect Park Board of Commissioners completed a multiple- month process with the announcement of Malartsik's hiring. Park Board President, Steve Kurka, commented, "The Board is very proud to have selected Dan Malartsik as Executive Director of the Mt. Prospect Park District. We feel his energy, excitement and enthusiasm for the field of parks and recreation makes him a great choice to lead the district into the future."

Malartsik holds a Master's Degree in Recreation Administration from the University of Illinois, Champaign Urbana. He is a certified Parks & Recreation Professional and led the Park District of Highland Park to receive the IPRA Distinguished Accreditation Award. He looks forward to developing his vision for the district while applying skills in strategic planning to best serve the needs of the Mt. Prospect Park District and its residents. Malartsik will begin his tenure in early June and will work alongside the retiring Executive Director, Greg Kuhs, for the month of June.
