New Art, Music, & Drama Classes and Summer Camps at the David Adler Music and Arts Center

The David Adler Music and Arts Center is pleased to announce a variety of camps and classes for summer 2017.

Summer Camps

Camp Adler: Ukulele. Broadway. Bucket Band. Improv! Impressionists! Fashion Finders. Art Experiments. Camp Adler is the camp for youth (ages 5-11) to explore music, drama, and art. Campers explore current interests and develop new ones as they build their own schedule from a variety of exciting art, music, and drama classes. Two sessions. Full-day and Half-day options and extended care are available. Junior Tribe Leader applications (7-10th grades) are available online at www.adlercenter.org

Chamber Music Camp: Work with professional musicians in this one-week camp designed for young musicians (ages 7-15) who want to play as an ensemble. Musicians are placed in chamber groups according to age and ability. Receive individual instruction, daily performance opportunities, and present an end-of-camp concert for families and friends. One Session, August 7-11.

Summer Art and Music Classes

Individual Music Lessons: Registration opens on May 8th for the Adler Center's flexible summer session. Take private lessons in piano, voice, violin, viola, cello, guitar, ukulele, or banjo. Choose and pay for lessons that fit your summer schedule. More information at www.adlercenter.org

Bon Voyage: Kids can take an imaginary trip around the world through art. Travel to France's Eiffel Tower, India's Taj Mahal, London's Big Ben, Hong Kong's Pagodas, Florence's Ponte Vecchio, and Spain's Alcazar. Create new multi-media art inspired by your creative adventures. May 1 - June 12, Mondays from 5:00 - 6:15pm.

Drawing Botanicals with Colored Pencil: This class introduces teen and adult students to colored pencils and basic drawing techniques. Learn layering, blending, and color techniques. During this class, students will create sketches and work up to a final botanical colored pencil drawing. May 11 - June 15, Thursdays from 6 - 8pm.

Fiddle Tunes! for Cello: This class, ideal for middle and high school cellists, will focus on building technique through scales and fiddle tunes. Fiddle tunes, filled with scales, chords and string crossings are a fun way to strengthen essential cello techniques. June 6 - August 8, Tuesdays from 5:30 - 6:30pm.

Silk Painting: Adults and teens can learn a variety of techniques for painting on silks. Each class builds your skills. By the end of the class, use your favorite techniques to paint a beautiful scarf of your very own.

Its year-round activities are designed to foster engagement and achievement in the arts for the people of Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin.
