St. Hugh's Coffee Concert Series continues Sunday with Rise Jones

On Sunday, April 30, St. Hugh Episcopal Church in Elgin welcomes Rise Dawn Jones as guest musician during the 10:30 a.m. service and featured performer at a noon concert in the church fellowship hall, 36W957 Highland Ave.

Jones has sung at many civic and religious events, both locally and internationally. She is founder and director of Hamilton Wings, a nonprofit Elgin-area organization that "gives children wings to soar" by promoting leadership, self-development and learning through the arts.

Accompanied on piano by Margaret Brady, her noon concert will include Ritorni Vincitor from Verdi's "Aida," a medley from Gershwin's "Porgy and Bess," Michel LeGrand's "The Moon and I," Kurt Weill's "Lost in the Stars," two selections from Leslie Adam's "Nightsongs," and conclude with the African-American spiritual, "Ride On King Jesus."

The free performance is open to the community as part of St. Hugh's Coffee Concert Series.

For more information, call Brady at (847) 508-6337 or email the church at sthugh@sbcglobal.net.
