May 22-23: Auditions for CLC summer musical 'Jekyll and Hyde'

Singers and actors over age 16 are invited to audition for the College of Lake County summer musical production of "Jekyll and Hyde," running July 14-16 and 20-23. Auditions will be held starting at 6:30 p.m. on May 22 and 23 in the Studio Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts at the CLC Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St.

Those auditioning should prepare a two-minute monologue from any dramatic play and a song from "Jekyll and Hyde" within their vocal range. Call backs are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 25. Scripts are available for review at the circulation desk of the Library of the Grayslake Campus.

Rehearsals begin May 30 and will generally run Monday through Thursday, 6:30-10 p.m. with a few Saturday rehearsals.

The show was conceived for the stage by Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, with book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, music by Frank Wildhorn and based on the story by Robert Louis Stevenson.

The show depicts the epic struggle between good and evil. Dr. Henry Jekyll is a devoted man of science and driven to solve mankind's most challenging medical dilemmas. But when he makes himself the subject of his own experiments, he accidentally unleashes his own inner demon, the man the world comes to know as Mr. Hyde. Featuring a sweeping score of pop rock hits, "Jekyll and Hyde" has mesmerized audiences the world over.
