Consumers Cooperative Association announces scholarship winners
Consumers Cooperative Association, the sponsor of Consumers Credit Union, awarded eight, $2,000 scholarships at its 87th Annual Meeting. The recipients, all local high school seniors, are able to use the scholarship at any college or university they choose.
"Consumers Cooperative Association is excited that our scholarship program will help area students attend the college of their choice," CCA President Julian Penny said.
"We believe it is extremely important to support our young people and encourage their pursuit of a higher education. We are confident these outstanding students have the ability to achieve their individual dreams as they transition from high school to college, and ultimately become the leaders of tomorrow. Years from now, we expect to see they've accomplished many great things in their lives."
The 2017 Scholarship winners include: Dylan T. Brown of New Tech High at Zion-Benton High School, Michael Cabahug of Grayslake North High School, Shayla R. Fitzgerald of Zion-Benton High School, Katherine L. Flesher of Waukegan High School, Megan M Hintz of Warren Township High School, Sheridan E. McGuire of Mundelein High School, Joshua O. Turner of Palatine High School and Logan W. Weber of Antioch High School.
"Awarding student scholarships is one of the highlights of the credit union's Annual Meeting," Consumers Credit Union CEO Sean M. Rathjen said.
"The future of the communities in which we live and work depends on developing future leaders. We are proud that our sponsor's scholarship program provides that opportunity and gives our youth a chance to realize both their personal goals as well as their individual potential.
