Ron Ory Community Garden Plots to Open Sat., April 22

Gardeners may begin their spring planting at the Ron Ory Community Garden Plots on Saturday, April 22. The Garden Plots are located at 811 S. West Street and are managed by the Naperville Park District.

A few full-sized plots remain open for rental for the 2017 season. To view the Garden Plot map and register for a plot, visit the Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, located at 305 W. Jackson Ave. The customer service desk is open Monday -Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Online registration is not available for Garden Plot rentals.

The Naperville Park District provides water, composted leaves and manure for gardeners' use on site. Master gardeners and Garden Plot ambassadors volunteer their time to assist beginning gardeners or anyone wanting ideas or advice about anything related to growing vegetables and flowers.

Special features of the Ron Ory Community Garden Plots include the honey bee hives, located in the organic section, and the Idea Gardens, created and maintained by master gardeners from the University of Illinois Extension and Naperville Community Gardeners. The Idea Gardens feature several demonstration gardens and educational signs, including a rain garden, sensory garden, sedge meadow garden and others.
