Sign up for preview run for Run Wild 5K

Don't miss this summer training opportunity for the fall Run Wild - Race for Open Space 5K.

Come out for a free preview run from 8 to 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, at Hickory Grove Highlands, Shelter No. 2, 500 Hickory Nut Grove Lane in Cary.

Get a sneak peek of the race route while learning training and trail etiquette tips that will make you a better trail runner.

Local running expert Michele Hartwig, race director at Ornery Mule Racing and founder of the McHenry County Ultrarunning Dudes & Dudettes running club, will guide the group through a warm up, a 30-minute fun run, and a cool-down session immediately after the run.

The inaugural Run Wild - Race for Open Space 5K will be held Saturday, Sept. 30, at Hickory Grove Highlands, 500 Hickory Nut Grove Lane in Cary. This 5K race travels through woodland, prairie and riverfront habitats. Enjoy the colors of fall with stunning views of wildflowers, grasses and towering oak and hickory trees along the wooded trail.

The race starts at 8:30 a.m. and offers awards for overall and age group.

Cost is $35 through Sept. 27 or $40 day of event. It includes a T-shirt, race bib, and race day snacks. Registration and details are online at www.mccdistrict.org.
