Find ways to help your community at Volunteer Mania Fair Sept. 16

Learn how to make a difference in your community with the Fox Valley Park District's second annual Volunteer Mania Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Prisco Community Center, 150 W. Illinois Ave., Aurora.

More than 40 local organizations offering volunteer and service opportunities will convene, making for a "one-stop-shopping" event. Individuals will be able to connect with representatives and learn details on a wide variety of opportunities available.

"We want to make it so every individual can find something they're passionate about and make a difference," said Debbie Smith, Community Outreach Manager for the park district. "Every individual has unique skills and abilities, and all those contributions combined can make a huge impact.

"People see value in serving, and the Fox Valley region is fortunate to have so many active volunteers who care," Smith added. "It's great to get involved, and very rewarding."

The free event is being run in conjunction with Aurora University, Volunteer Fox Valley, and the Fox Valley United Way. For more information, contact Debbie Smith at dsmith@fvpd.net or (630) 966-4555.
