Chicago Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich will be at Circuit City in Arlington Heights from 6 to 7 p.m. tonight to sign autographs and celebrate the store's grand opening.
As part of the grand opening festivities, Hinrich-autographed souvenirs will be sold, with the proceeds going to the Boys & Girls Club of Arlington Heights.
The Circuit City store is in Northpoint mall at the northeast corner of Arlington Heights and Rand roads. The mall also includes an Old Navy clothing store, a Jewel-Osco supermarket and a Corner Bakery Cafe restaurant.
The new Circuit City will be close to a Best Buy store in the Town and Country Mall -- a newly renovated shopping center that also includes Dick's Sporting Goods and JoAnn Fabrics.
Air out concerns: The District 25 school board will host a second public comment period on air conditioning its schools from 6 to 7 p.m. tonight at Thomas Middle School, 1430 N. Belmont.
The regular District 25 board meeting will start at 7 p.m. after the public comments. The board is divided on whether to spend $13 million to air-condition all nine schools, spend less money on alternative devices or spend money only at the middle schools and the second or third floors of elementary schools, since those floors are typically hotter.
The school board first looked into the air-conditioning issue almost a year ago. District 25 will host another public comment session on air conditioning Sept. 27.
A final decision is expected in December.
The board hosted a similar public meeting on Sept. 13 where a handful of parents, teachers and students all spoke in favor of the air conditioning idea.
Author coming to church: Jason Evert will speak at 5 p.m. on Sunday on the virtue of chastity at Our Lady of the Wayside Church in Arlington Heights. Evert, 29, graduated from Franciscan University in Ohio. He's written many books challenging young people to embrace chastity.
In October, Evert is speaking at other churches in Orland Park, Waukegan, Chicago and Northbrook.
Paint in the eye: Arlington Heights police are looking for a sharpshooter who ruined a walk for a couple residents. Two walkers were hit by paintballs around 7 p.m. on Sept. 21 in the Lake Arlington area, according to police.
The paintballs were shot by a person in a dark compact vehicle. Anyone with information should call CrimeStoppers at (847) 590-STOP.
