Court expert comes home:

Naperville native Joan Biskupic, an authority on the Supreme Court, will return home Dec. 15 to sign copies of her new book, "American Original: The Life and Constitution of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia." Biskupic will appear at 7 p.m. at Anderson's Bookshop, 123 W. Jefferson Ave. She covers the Court for USA Today and is a frequent "Washington Week" panelist on PBS. She wrote an earlier book that examined the life of Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. For details, call (630) 355-2665.

Forest permits go on sale:

Annual permits for use of DuPage Forest Preserve District's off-leash dog areas, private boats and model-boat and model-airplane facilities go on sale Dec. 1 for 2010. Camping- and picnic-area reservations begin Jan. 2. Applications can be downloaded from the district Web site at dupageforest.org and submitted in person, by fax or by mail to visitor services at Danada Forest Preserve in Wheaton. Library names board member:

A vice president at Harris Private Bank in Naperville has been installed as a member of the Naperville Public Library's board of trustees. Ron C. Davidson is also a member of the Naperville Area Chamber of Commerce board of directors, a Naperville Noon Rotary Club member and a former board member of DuPage Public Action to Deliver Shelter. He replaces Brett Flickinger, who completed two terms on the board, which has a two-term limit.

Paper honors women:

Numerous DuPage County women have been honored by The Business Ledger as 2009 Influential Women in Business. The women were recognized by the newspaper and the Chicago Area Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners. They include: Sarah Brachle, executive director of DuPage Habitat for Humanity, Wheaton; Donna Dziedzic, Naperville Public Library director; Mattine Gallentine, president of MG Computer in Downers Grove; Jill Hebert, CEO of Matrex Exhibits, Inc., Addison; Jill Koski, Morton Arboretum vice president of development; Maria Metz, principal of Townsend-Metz and Associates, Glen Ellyn; Christine Ruffino, founder and president of Dynamic Professional Women's Network of West Chicago; Tricia Sutton, president of Sutton Enterprises Inc. of Bensenville; and Dawn Tuskey, president of IHM Remodeling, Downers Grove.
