Tribune Co., E.W. Scripps Co. and some other U.S. newspapers will raise prices on Thanksgiving as readers seek inserts touting holiday discounts.

The Newspaper Association of America says more than a third of U.S. newspapers from Washington to San Bernardino, Calif., will charge Sunday prices for Thursday editions stuffed with "Black Friday" ads.

However, circulation officials for the Daily Herald, Illinois' third-largest newspaper, said the paper's single-copy price this Thursday will remain at the usual daily price of 75 cents even though Thanksgiving is one of the biggest-selling editions of the year.
