Got ya covered

You never know what you're going to get from a Mr. Blotto show - except for energetic rock 'n' roll. The group mixes some original songs with a broad, eclectic array of covers, everything from Led Zeppelin to the Flaming Lips. The group hits the suburbs this weekend to keep the post-Thanksgiving celebration going.

Info: 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, at Chord on Blues, 106 S. First Ave., St. Charles. Call (630) 513-0074.

Feel 'Lucky'?

DuPage County rockers Lucky Boys Confusion headline an evening of music at Penny Road Pub. The group will play songs from what will apparently be its final album, 2009's "Closing Arguments," and other hits from throughout its career.

Info 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, at Penny Road Pub, 545 Penny Road, South Barrington. $10. Go to ticketweb.com.

Nerd rock

The hipster geeks in Weezer didn't look much like the flannel-wearing grunge bands that dominated the landscape in the post-Nirvana world of the early 1990s, and they sounded different, too. (Remember their poppy hit "Buddy Holly," complete with the "Happy Days"-themed video?) Weezer has continued to produce witty, catchy pop songs since its 1994 debut, and now is touring behind its latest release, "Raditude." Don't let the muddy acoustics inside the Aragon scare you away from this one.

Info: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the Aragon Ballroom, 1106 W. Lawrence, Chicago. $44.75. Call (800) 745-3000.
