Sherman Hospital's 23rd annual lighting of the Love Light tree will take place at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23 on the second floor of the John Graham Pavilion.

The ceremony will be the last one to be held at the 934 Center St. address before the hospital moves to its new home in December.

It will honor all Sherman Hospital volunteers.

The Colorado green spruce, which serves as the Love Light tree throughout the year, will be ablaze with tiny white lights remembering loved ones.

Hundreds of guests are expected to attend this special celebration which signals the arrival of the holiday season at the hospital. The tree will remain lit and ornaments displaying the names of loved ones will remain up throughout the entire holiday season.

Inspirational messages will be given by Rev. Nathaniel Edmond, pastor of the Second Baptist Church in Elgin and Sherman Hospital board member, and Rev. Neris Diaz-Cabello, hospital chaplain.

A musical presentation by members of the Elgin Choral Union will again highlight the program and the Love Light Tree will be lighted by longtime Sherman volunteers Deanna Young and Helen Diekman.

Lena Scheflow, Love Light Program chairwoman and her committee - Beatrice Albright, Edgar Andino, Thomas Ayres, Dr. Neal Edelson, Joy Jensen, Michael Kenyon, James Miller and Linda Wallace - invite all donors, friends and neighbors of Sherman Hospital to attend the ceremony, which lasts approximately one hour.

Afterward, refreshments will be served.

Contributions to the Love Light Program are accepted throughout the year and assist Sherman Hospital in providing quality health care for the area.

Donations to the Love Light Program may be directed to the Sherman Health Foundation at Sherman Hospital, 934 Center St., Elgin, IL 60120.

Inquiries and reservations for the Love Light Program may be made by either calling (847) 429-2500 or e-mailing shermanhealthfoundation@shermanhospital.org.
