• A home on the 100 block of South 7th Avenue was burglarized Saturday, according to a police report. The homeowner came home to find a door to her home pried open with a paint scraper and a crowbar. Items in several rooms were disturbed and items with small monetary value were taken, but large, expensive items, such as a relatively new television, were left untouched. Police did not locate any fingerprints at the scene or on the tools used to gain access to the home.
• Gang symbols were carved into a wall near an elevator at an apartment building on the 100 block of Walnut Drive, police said. The graffiti appeared as long ago as Oct. 31. The estimated cost to repair the damage is $100.
• A home on the 200 block of Chassé Circle was broken into Oct. 31, police said. The residents came home to find a box of their wedding DVDs had been disturbed. There were various other signs that someone had been in the home, but nothing of value was reported missing. It appears the home was entered through an attached garage.
• Christie Ann Bowers, 23, of the 300 block of North Cardinal Court, turned herself in Monday on an outstanding warrant for retail theft, according to police. The warrant relates to an incident a Kohl's department store where store security observed Bowers take seven Wii video games from the store without paying for them, and leave the area before store security could stop her. Bowers was identified through video footage of the incident.
South Elgin
• Daniel T. Jablonski, 25, of the 400 block of Ann Street, South Elgin, faced a series of charges Thursday, after police said he tried kicking out a window in a squad car on the way to the police station Wednesday, causing more than $300 to the window frame. He was charged with criminal damage to state-supported property, disorderly conduct and resisting a peace officer - the latter two charges are misdemeanors. His bond was set at $20,000 and his next court appearance is Nov. 23 at the Kane County Judicial Center.
• A Diamondback dirt bike, valued at $400, was stolen at about 9 p.m. Nov. 6 from a storage area in the 400 block of Ann Street, reports said.
• Someone used a gun to shoot a metal storage container in the 300 block of Randall Road six times between 3 p.m. Nov. 5 and 10:30 p.m. Nov. 6, according to police.
