The recent letter to the editor from Ray Vetger of Carol Stream "No Need to Stifle Technology" makes a great point. He's right: With AT&T U-verse there is finally competition in TV services.
It was two years ago when state lawmakers actually passed a bill that paved the way to bring consumers more choices to cable. In addition, it brought more jobs and economic investment in Illinois to build the new network. The way the economy is in tatters today, supporting a bill that brought new jobs was a smart move.
Our local state lawmakers - Sen. John Millner, Sen. Carole Pankau, Rep. Randy Ramey and Rep. Franco Coladipietro - deserve a lot of credit for that vote. I hope they can do it again.
If the General Assembly can pass more legislation to bring better technology, jobs and investment dollars to our local economy - then they should. In cases like this, everyone wins.
