During the Congressional recess, we eagerly anticipated the Town Hall meeting we were sure Congresswoman Melissa Bean would host so that we could challenge her on the absurd direction we see our nation going, a direction she supports when her voting record and statements are examined.

Well, the recess ended, Congress resumed, but no Town Hall for us, her constituents.

We were delighted to learn via a canned phone call from her office Saturday that she would make an appearance at the Jewel Grocery in Lake Zurich, Sunday, Oct. 18, at 3 p.m. Wow, finally an opportunity to speak my piece in person!

When we arrived at 3 p.m., we learned from one of her staffers (the only guy wearing a suit) that "on the advice of her physician" she had decided to NOT appear! Frankly, judging from the orderly but angry group of voters who came to meet her, I would not want to be in her shoes either, and might call in sick.

She has been ignoring the sentiments of her constituents for the entire term, apparently blindly following whatever Rahm Emanuel tells her to do instead of what's good for Lake County residents.

Was she sick? How sick could she get in the 24 hours since we got the phone call? It's time for a change we can really believe in.
