On behalf of Albert Cardinal Meyer Council 5751 Knights of Columbus, Elk Grove Village, we extend thanks to our greater Elk Grove Village community for its generous support of the recently completed Mental Retardation Learning Disabilities (MR/LD) "Tootsie Roll" fund drive of Sept. 18 and 19. A total of 58 volunteers, members and nonmembers including adults and teenagers, collected slightly over $4,300.00. These donations from the community still showed the spirit of reaching out to people with special needs even in a tight economic period. State-approved charitable organizations that service special needs people that will benefit from our Council's fund drive are: Kenneth Young Center, Clearbrook Center, Marklund Children's Home, Misericordia, and Resources for Community Living.

Many thanks to the volunteers who generously gave up personal time to work storefronts and street corners. Many thanks also to the Elk Grove Village businesses that gave the Knights permission for volunteers to collect donations in front of their establishments. They were Jarosch Bakery, Walgreens (both stores in Elk Grove), 7-11 at Arlington Heights Road and Biesterfield Road, 7-11 on Landmeier Road at Tonne Road and the Jewel-Osco at Arlington Heights Road and Biesterfield Road.
