A 16-year-old juvenile has been arrested in connection with a weekend gang-related attack in Wheeling that sent four teenagers to the hospital, police said today.
The juvenile was arrested Tuesday night and charged with three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, Deputy Chief William Benson said. He declined to give additional details, citing the age of the defendant and the continuing investigation.
The attack occurred shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday near Elmhurst and Dennis roads after gang slogans were yelled. The victims, who range in age from 17 to 19 years old, suffered stab wounds to their backs, arms and legs. One was stabbed in the scalp. Three of the victims had been released by Monday while the fourth was still in the hospital at that time.
