• Takiyah M. Cotton, 18, of the 300 block of Watch Court, stabbed a 20-year-old family member in the chest with a steak knife during an argument early Tuesday morning and was charged with aggravated domestic battery, a felony, and domestic battery, a misdemeanor, police said. The condition of the family member was unknown. Cotton's bond was set at $30,000 and she is due in court Nov. 18 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

• A 41-year-old cabbie told police he was robbed of $20 by a man with a 12-inch knife at 11:10 p.m. Monday in the block of Michigan Street after picking up a man at the Grand Victoria Casino, reports said. The cabbie was not injured by the suspect, who was only described at a male man in his 20s. Later that night, a 34-year-old cabbie reported at 2:06 a.m. Tuesday reported that a black man in his 20s tried to rob him at Lake Street and Michigan Avenue, but the cabbie yelled for help on his radio and the assailant ran away, reports said. No arrests were made. "Obviously, (the incidents) are very similar. At this point we're investigating them as two separate incidents," Deputy Chief Jeff Swoboda said.

• An Xbox 360, Sony PSP, eight PSP games and 15 DVDs were stolen between 8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Monday from an apartment in the 200 block of Channing Street, reports said.

• Terrence D. Johnson, 25, of the 400 block of Gifford Street, Elgin, was arrested and charged with trespassing at 11:37 p.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Fleetwood Drive, reports said. Johnson is on the banned list at the apartment complex, reports said.
